292 days until YUMI FALLS IN LOVE

Although it is completely within the realm of possibility that Yummi might fall in love as well, I have no idea who Yummi is. This picture is about Yumi, sounds like Yoomi.

RECENT VIEWING:

3 IRON

My very good friend Rob introduced me to Korean Cinema a few years ago. I can't even remember his review of Kim Ki-Duk's 3 Iron, but I'm pretty sure he liked it. I thought it was very good. The "magic realism" elements remind me of Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring, but the violent stuff is rather "Oldboy" (Park Chan-Wook). Although not as captivating as Samaritan Girl, 3 Iron has its moments, particularily the first half of the film when you're uncertain as to where things are headed. Beautiful shots, spare dialogue, and beautiful people. 3 Iron might be a bit too clever for its own good at moments, and too many people own 3 Irons in this film, but minor complaints aside, a very good film by a very great director.

SIN CITY: Fantastic.

FREE RADICALS: Dark stuff, reminds me of Dog Days. Like the free radicals in the atom, the characters seek connection but find themselves alone and loathing. Austria. A joyless world, but a strangely uplifting film...

THE ARISTOCRATS: well crafted doc. Sarah Silverman is priceless. I laughed and loved the inner circle world presented, however, Kelly and I left the theatre feeling a bit creepy for whatever reason. Gilbert and Saget...good stuff.
