BRAND NEW WEBSITE

There is a brand new website up for YUMI IN LOVE

www.yumiinlove.com

If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please let me know. It's not quite as comprehensive as the last site, but there is a link to the old site, and I think it's easy enough to find. I may have to add an additional "bits" page to the new site. We'll see.

Here's a great short film, it's still cheezy and funny like short films are "required" to be, but the filmmaker hits all the right notes with the rough editing style and his acting. Film is so much nicer than video, isn't it? His film is here:

7:35 A.M.

I think it may have been nominated for an Academy Award?

THE COST

Just because a film is ultra low or no budget does not mean that there isn't a cost.

That's one thing I, as the YUMI IN LOVE ringleader and MC, understand completely. There is a cost. A high cost. People spending their time with Yumi are giving themselves.

We only have so many minutes. Yumi in Love will not waste one.

Thanks guys! Looking forward to July.

FRACK YOU Battlestar Galactica, for being so fracking fantastic.

How can this show possibly be this good? Sex, drama, handheld camera, fantastic shitty light (looks like a lot of practical light), brilliant acting and even better writing. You get a lot of cheese with Dr. Gaius Baltar, but it's easy to take with the wonderfully rough edge of the production style. Like Dylan's best work, this stuff feels "live off the floor."

Hope it continues into season two...

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE "INDIE"

A quote from Yahoo's movie page taken from Reuters Entertainment news feed (referring to Sex and Death 101).

"The indie film, budgeted at less than $10 million, is shooting over the next six weeks on location in Los Angeles."

When your film costs $10 million dollars and includes Winona Ryder, you are not quite fucking "indie." Jesus. You're the cinematic equivalent of Nickleback. Ninth wave grunge tagalongs using a label and a diluted sound to sell flannel shirts to the kids of Soundgarden fans. Indie. Fuck off. Please.

This is not directed at the filmmaker, just the marketing department. I loved Heathers when it came out. I'll definitely buy a ticket to see this film in the theatre, and I'll probably buy it on DVD.
